Since you're here you probably already know you need Potassium Iodate - KIO3 - just to be on the safe side. Most reasonable people do. It could save your life.

How KIO3 Works

In radiological "events," huge amounts of radioactive iodine can be released into the atmosphere.

They know about that in Chernobyl.

Radioactive Iodine (131-I) released in such events can be absorbed by the thyroid. When radioactive iodine (the bad Iodine) gets into your thyroid gland, cancer can follow.

KIO3 essentially fills the thyroid with "good iodine," which blocks radioactive iodine - the very worst form of iodine - and keeps it from entering the thyroid gland.

Potassium Iodate blocks radioactive iodine from entering the thyroid gland. That's a medical fact. Filling the thyroid to the top with good Iodine is the one thing we know for certain can work.

That's why the government gives thyroid blocking potassium-iodine tabs - free - to people who live near nuclear power plants. Of course they only give out two or so tablets and even then it is only to people living within 10 miles (or less) of the power plant.

And that's why some call KIO3 anti-nuke pills, or anti-radiation pills.

For the price of a couple of drive-thru's, you could help protect your family from an Osama inspired event.
Of course if you're at ground-zero, you're pretty much screwed and KIO3 won't help you.

But you're smart enough to know that even if you're distant from the event, your family could still be in trouble.

Cancer-causing radioactive iodine an travel hundreds of miles in the atmosphere. Again, ask people downwind of Chernobyl.

A bottle of KIO3 in your medicine chest, briefcase, or glove box could make the difference to you and your family.
